Art + Science

San Francisco, CA

This ethereal installation was all about the marriage of art and science. Erected in the White Box at SFMOMA, the 10 foot diameter circular backdrop features white blooming branches floating inside. The metal ring is suspended mid-air within a composition of white strings attached to a curved frame floating overhead.

The resulting three dimensional geometric sculpture is fascinating from all angles. Your eye is drawn from circle to ellipsis and back again, anchoring in and yet floating past the connective tissue of the strings. Pi Day was the inspiration, Infinity the effect.
